Search - Associate Provost for Academic Affairs

Dear Kent State University Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that three finalists for associate provost for academic affairs will be interviewing this and the following week. The associate provost for academic affairs position focuses on leadership in the areas related to student success programming for the university as well as other initiatives, and provides guidance and support to divisions that report to the Office of the Provost.

Search Launched for the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs 

I am also pleased to announce that we have launched the search for the associate provost for academic affairs position. The successful candidate for this position, previously held by Mandy Munro-Stasiuk, Ph.D., dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, will focus on leadership in the areas related to student success programming for the university as well as other initiatives, and provide guidance and support to divisions that report to the Office of the Provost. 

Interested applicants for the position of Associate Provost of Academic Affairs can apply for the position now via the Kent State job application portal. Candidates for this position must hold a terminal degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution and three or more years of administrative experience at a complex doctoral-granting university as identified in the job description.

Job Description

Associate Provost for academic Affairs


To provide leadership on behalf of, and as delegated by, the Provost in the areas of academic resource planning and management, curricular affairs, accreditation and assessment, faculty affairs, general education, large-scale initiatives, and human resources. Reports to the Senior Vice President and Provost.


Provide leadership in academic resource planning and management, accreditation and assessment, research, curricular affairs and general education initiatives as delegated by the Provost.

Provide leadership in performing needs assessment, developing strategic objectives and university-wide policies and procedures.

Assist with the development and approval of program budgets and expenditures. Maximize existing resources and make strategic planning recommendations.

Assist the Provost by representing him/her at internal and external meetings and events; assume divisional responsibility as requested during Provost’s absence.

Assist the Provost in the development and accomplishment of Academic Affairs’ goals, objectives, and policies.

Assist the Provost by chairing, convening, and/or serving on various campus and community committees, task forces, councils, etc.

Assist the Provost by performing duties and conducting special assignments including, but not limited to, providing advice and coordinating conferences and workshops.

Fulfill responsibilities of human resource management, including equal employment opportunity, affirmative action and faculty/staff development.

Provide leadership and serve as key point of contact on various large-scale academic initiatives.

Coordinate responses to state and federal mandates.

Review and render final decisions on student academic appeals.

Oversee academic and/or support units, as assigned.

Maintain and assist in the development of binary articulation agreements.

Perform related duties as assigned.


Terminal degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution; three or more years of administrative experience at a complex doctoral-granting university. If applicable, the individual may be appointed to a faculty appointment congruent to their academic record. Must possess a broad institutional perspective, have excellent budgeting/finance and planning skills, and a proactive style of leadership that encourages teamwork and interaction.
