College of Public Health Staff News

Barb Fahrny, former business manager for CPH, retired just prior to the beginning of the Fall ’17 semester.  Since the earliest days of the College, she provided remarkable grants management and other support to faculty and staff. Her absence was felt almost immediately after her last day of work.  We miss her but wish her and her family all the best.

Kim Yodice has been promoted to Special Assistant in the dean’s office, and has taken on additional responsibilities in the college including serving as the Building Curator for Moulton Hall, coordinating office and lab moves, and internal communications. In her new position, Yodice helps coordinate building security, maintenance, and energy use.  She also assists with facility scheduling and coordinating AV needs for the Moulton Hall Ballroom.

In his new role, Josh Filla, MPA is working with Brent Christman (CPH Finance Director) and Dr. Jeffery Hallam (Associate Dean) to support CPH faculty and staff members with monitoring and managing external grant funds. This includes tracking project effort and finances, purchasing supplies and equipment, hiring students and staff, and ensuring salaries are distributed to the proper funding sources. This support is important because it helps the CPH achieve its goal to increase externally funded activity that allows faculty and staff to make positive contributions to the local, regional, and national public health system through research and support projects. In addition, Filla continues to work with Dr. John Hoornbeek (Associate Professor, Health Policy & Management) in the Center for Public Policy and Health.

Dr. Peter Ossai (CPH Alum 2016), accepted a new staff position, Diversity Outreach Coordinator. In that role, Ossai works with underrepresented and international students in the College to develop programming designed to increase student retention and graduation rates by providing needed academic and social supports.
