Level 1: No experience required. Low level of physical exertion.

Level 2: Some experience recommended. Moderate level of physical exertion.

Level 3: Specific experience necessary. Moderate to high level of physical exertion.

SKI & SNOWBOARD TRIP

Join us at Cockaigne Ski Resort for a day of skiing or snowboarding. The price includes lift tickets, transportation, rental equipment and fun on the mountain. We will leave bright and early in the morning and be back to campus by 10 p.m.

WINTER HIKE/SNOWSHOEING

Join us to explore the winter beauty of Ohio's very own national park from a whole new perspective. We will be going to Cuyahoga Valley National Park to hike the trails using snowshoes if the snowfall is deep enough. Otherwise, we will go on foot and warm up after the hike with some hot chocolate. SPRING BREAK BACKPACKING & CAVING

Join us for a six-day adventure over Spring Break. Throughout the week we will experience backpacking along the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina and caving in West Virginia. Our days spent on the trail will consist of hiking 5-8 miles a day while carrying a 35-pound backpack. This trip will involve camping at sites that will often have no running water. We will finish our trip with a day of exploring the Lost World Caverns in West Virginia. The price of this trip includes most meals, transportation, caving, all gear and guides.

FULL MOON FLOAT

Join us as we travel to Mogadore Reservoir for a unique evening boating experience under the full moon! We will provide all equipment including canoes, kayaks, lanterns, hot chocolate and coffee. You can ride with us or meet us out at the reservoir.

OUTDOOR ROCK CLIMBING - WHIPPS LEDGES

Enjoy a day of outdoor climbing at Whipp’s Ledges. This trip is great for all experience levels, from beginner to experienced. The fee includes transportation, equipment, lunch and instruction. Contact Victoria Murray by email at vmurray3@kent.edu with any questions.

OVERNIGHT KAYAKING AND CAMPING - ALLEGHENY RIVER, PA.

We will be headed to the Allegheny River in Pennsylvania on a multi-night paddle and camping trip on the riverside. During our five+ hours of paddling each day, we will have the chance to view the beautiful scenery and hopefully see some wildlife! Fee includes transportation, equipment and food.

RIVER TO RESTAURANT

Paddle the Cuyahoga River near downtown Kent AND experience a local restaurant near the water! We have partnered with local restaurants to provide a wonderful recreational opportunity for you to learn some paddling skills, try out your new skills on the water, sample local cuisine and meet some new people! We’ll spend about 1.5 hours on the water (all gear provided) and 1.5 hours in the restaurant (free appetizer provided with the purchase of a meal). 

  • Date: Thursday, April 23 from 6-9 p.m.; Wednesday, April 29 from 6-9 p.m.

KAYAKING ON THE CUYAHOGA RIVER

Participants will have the opportunity to paddle down the Cuyahoga River, starting just below downtown Kent at Tannery Park. The trip is 6 miles long, is beginner-friendly and no prior experience is needed. The fee includes transportation, equipment and instruction.

STAND UP PADDLEBOARDING

This trip will be held locally on the Cuyahoga River and will begin at Tannery Park. Before paddling, our experienced instructors will give a brief lesson on how to stand up paddleboard (SUP) on the river and then you will have the unique opportunity to SUP on a slow moving current. 

  • Date: Saturday, April 25 from 2-5 p.m.

RPTM TRIP

This trip is only for students in Outdoor Pursuits and Adventure Education PEP-25026 or Outdoor Recreation RPTM-26081. Interested in learning how to lead and facilitate outdoor experiences for others? In this unique Adventure Center trip, you will learn the basics of planning an outdoor trip, how to use specific gear and equipment, and how to lead and teach potential students or clients on outdoor experiences. Gear, meals, lodging, transportation, and instruction will be provided; just come with an open mind ready to learn!  Trip will take place April 25th & 26th.  We will meet at the Rec. Center on Saturday morning and head to West Branch State Park for a fun outdoor weekend!  We will be camping in tents with a shower house/bathroom available.

WHITEWATER RAFTING & CAMPING TRIP - WEST VIRGINIA

We will drive to West Virginia to get on some white water for an epic weekend adventure. We will raft one day and camp one night. Campsite, gear, food and transportation provided.
