Workshops and Seminars

The ORFD offers periodic workshops and seminars geared at professional development, grant preparation, industry or foundation funding, and intellectual property/technology transfer/small business development.

  • Grants 101 workshop series
  • Third (or sometimes fourth) Thursday Brownbag meetings – Bring your lunch and come hang out with colleagues to discuss recent research issues of interest. Topics change frequently, and please feel free to suggest a topic. Upcoming Brownbags will discuss:

Aug. 29: Beginners' guide to the mysteries of grant writing. For individuals new to considering writing a grant, this brownbag will focus on Introduction-level material regarding funding agencies, budgets, and defining terms/lingo that are often used.”

Sept. 19 : How to talk to program officers

Oct. 24: Serving on Study Sections. Are you interested in serving on a study section? Learn about what serving entails, pros and cons, and training programs that NIH offers for new faculty interested in serving on Study Sections. 

Nov. 21: NIH resubmissions.
