No! You can walk, run, skip, crawl, or whatever else you need to do! As long as you enjoy our internationally-themed course and cross the finish line, you'll be eligible for a scholarship.
The more participants we have, the more scholarships we can give away. It is through the strong community involvement that we will be able to grant about $15,000 in scholarships this year through the Run the World Race Series.
We couldn't agree more! In addition to registering for the race, you can click on the DONATE button above to personally support our students. If you or your company is able, you can look into sponsoring the race.
No! There is no required essay, and no minimum GPA requirement to win a scholarship. Just sign up for an individual race (Kent or Stark) or sign up for the Race Series to have 3 opportunities to win a scholarship.
All you have to do is register for the Race Series. Just finish the September 5K in Kent and the April 5K in Stark, and you could win $2,500 to study abroad!
You will still be eligible for scholarships! Scholarship recipients are randomly selected from the students who are registered for the race, whether they run on race day or not. Students who sign up for the individual race are eligible for the scholarships awarded at that event. Students who sign up for the Race Series are entered into the scholarship drawing for each race, as well as a Race Series scholarship raffle.
No! You can utilize the scholarship any time before you graduate. As long as you maintain status as a Kent State student, the scholarship will be waiting for you to use it! Check out Kent State's MANY Education Abroad opportunities.
You must use the scholarship to study abroad. The scholarship is not distributed until you have selected a study abroad program and contact the Office of International Programs and Education Abroad to apply the scholarship.
Unfortunately not, but your odds of winning are fantastic: at the Kent race in 2016, students had about a 1 in 20 chance of winning $1,000 to study abroad, and we anticipate similar numbers for 2017.
