DAM KICK OFF: CHALK THE WALK

Wednesday, 10.1 @ 1:00 pm Meet at the DeWeese Health Center/SAS office. Come join us as we chalk the campus sidewalks and kick off the month of October celebrating individuals with disabilities. Snacks and give-a-ways! 

HOMECOMING PARADE

10.18 @ 11am KENT

Together with SCEC, Student Council for Exceptional Children, SAS will be representing dAM by walking in the Kent State Homecoming Parade passing out goodies to the crowd. Why watch, when you could walk in it with us!? Email scowlin1@kent.edu if you would like to join us. 

FEATURED SPEAKER: GERI JEWELL "CELEBRATING ABILITIES"

Join us in the KIVA for an evening with Geri Jewell at Kent State University. Geri was the first person with a disability to have a regular role on a prime time series. She is a stand up comedienne, motivational speaker, best-selling author, actress, and advocate. In her autobiography, “I’m Walking As Straight As I Can: Transcending Disability in Hollywood and Beyond,” she writes about her journey as a person with cerebral palsy and discusses her struggles with sexual identity. Geri will speak to the harsh realities of Hollywood, discrimination, abuse and triumph as she dared to follow her dreams. We hope to see you there!
