Register for SLIS New Student Orientation

Posted Aug. 9, 2012

New Student Orientation sessions (Online Orientation and In-Person Orientation) will introduce incoming students to the library and information science program, graduate study at Kent State, and the tools needed to make the most of an education in SLIS.

Completion of the Online Orientation is required of all incoming students before beginning coursework. In the Online Orientation, students will get to know SLIS, meet the faculty, learn about our MLIS degree program, and discover how to get started with the graduate school experience. The Online Orientation site will be available after August 15. At that time, please visit www.kent.edu/slis, and look for Online New Student Orientation under Quick Links in the yellow text box.

In addition, all new students, including those in the eDegree option, are strongly encouraged to attend an In-Person Orientation session in either Kent or Columbus. This is a great opportunity to meet all SLIS faculty, including academic advisors, and make important connections with staff, fellow students, and professional organizations. The In-Person Orientation culminates with a social which will allow students to mingle with exhibitors from professional library associations and to sign up for student memberships.
