Who can use the Recreation & Wellness Center?

At this time, the facility is open to current Kent State Stark students, staff and faculty. FLASHcards are required for entry.

Will I have to wear a mask?

Yes, you will be required to wear a mask while working out, adhering to the Flashes Safe Eight principles.

What will I have access to while in the building?

You will be able to use all of the equipment you are used to in our facility, including free weights, strength and cardio machines. All are spaced 6 to 8 feet apart from other participants. There will be additional cleaning requirements requested of you, so please watch for signage. There will be no basketball at this time. Locker rooms will be available for single use; showers and water fountains are not be available.

Can I take a class, like yoga?

Yoga will be offered on Tuesdays from 12:05 to 12:55 p.m. beginning Feb. 16. Masks must be warn at all times. Mats will be provided but participants are encouraged to bring their own block, strap, and blanket or beach towel. This class will take place on the gym floor, not in the aerobics room. Pre-registration is required. Contact Stacie to register at shumm2@kent.edu or call 244-330-3390.

How will the equipment be cleaned?

All machines will be disinfected by staff members after each use. The staff will utilize a card system – “red” means the equipment needs to be cleaned and “green” will indicate the equipment is ready for use. Small equipment will be left at a cleaning station after use for cleaning by the staff. Disinfecting supplies and hand sanitizer also will be available for patrons to use.
