Post Announcements in Blackboard Courses

The Announcement tool allows instructors to post class messages to provide information and updates for students.  Announcements are posted on the Announcements page and can also be emailed to your students.

1. LOG INTO BLACKBOARD

Log into Blackboard Learn at learn.kent.edu or through Flashline.
 

2. ENTER YOUR COURSE

Click on the name of your course to access it.
 

3. ACCESS THE ANNOUNCEMENTS PAGE

In the Control Panel, click to expand the Course Tools section.  Then click the Announcements link.

Note: If you plan to use Announcements in your course, consider adding a link to the Announcements page in your course menu for easy access.  To do this, click the Plus (+) button in the top left corner of the course menu and select Tool Link from the menu.  Type in a name for the link, select Announcements from the drop-down menu, make the link visible to students, and submit

4. CREATE ANNOUNCEMENTS

On the Announcements page, click the Create Announcement button at the top left.

5. TYPE SUBJECT AND MESSAGE

Type in the subject line, then type or paste your announcement in the message field.

6. SELECT ANNOUNCEMENT OPTIONS

Select your duration and email options.  You can choose whether or not to date-restrict the announcement.  You can also opt to send a copy of the announcement to your students via email.

7. ADD COURSE LINK (OPTIONAL)

In the Course Link section, you can include a link to an item in your course (e.g. test, assignment, discussion, etc.), if desired.  To do so, click the Browse button and then select the item to which you want to link.

8. SUBMIT

Click the Submit button to post the announcement.
