Use Student Preview in a Blackboard Course
Blackboard Learn has a Student Preview tool built in that allows instructors to switch to the role of a demo student to view and interact in their courses exactly as their actual students do.
1. LOG INTO BLACKBOARD
Log into Blackboard Learn at Kent or through Flashline.
2. ENTER YOUR COURSE
Click on the name of your course to access it.
3. TURN ON STUDENT VIEW
In the top right, click the Student Preview icon.
You will be switched to the role of a demo student.
You can navigate the course, take tests, complete assignments, view the demo student’s My Grades page, etc.
Note: Any content with date/time restrictions set such that it is not currently available to students will not show to you in Student Preview mode. This is a good way to make sure that you set up any date/time restrictions correctly.
4. RETURN TO TEACHER VIEW
In the top right, click the Exit Preview button.
Note: You may choose whether or not to retain any data you created as the student.
If you want the preview student to show up in your Grade Center for testing out assignment/test submissions, etc., choose to keep the data; otherwise, you can select to delete the data.
