The Kent State Stark Welcome Team is a dynamic group of student leaders dedicated to making the transition to college a smooth one.

They regularly participate in the planning and facilitation of all first year programs. Welcome Team members participate in First Step, Summer Service Projects, Smart Start Orientation, the Success Series, and help out with the DKS: FYE course. Students meet on a monthly basis to share ideas and help manage events/projects. If you see them around campus, be sure to say hello!

If you are interested in being involved with this program, contact Kristi Yerian at or 330-244-3278.

I am a creative person. I am always drawing or writing and I spend most of my free time with family. I am inquisitive and love to learn new things and figure out how things function. I’m very excited to be joining The Welcome Team. I believe it will provide me with the opportunity to build both skills and relationships.

Middle Childhood Education

Since I was young I have always known two things, I want to be a teacher and I want to attend Kent State University. I currently am enrolled in the middle childhood education program with focuses in science and social studies. I loved to be involved in school and in my community. When I am not on campus, I am at home or active participating in Fine Arts events. I enjoy music, theater, and dance, which I’ve done since I was in fifth grade. I graduated from Manchester High School in 2016 and have a younger sister who is currently attending MHS. I currently assist with the choreography for my high school’s drama department, which I have done since my sophomore year. After graduating from college, I plan to become a middle school teacher and be an active member in my school district’s theater department.

Business Management

I have been attending Kent State at Stark since Fall of 2015. My hobbies include playing video games, watching movies, reading and debating comics with friends. If it is anything geeky, count me in. Aside from being a member of the Welcome Team, I work in the Student Services office. If you need help with the FASFA, I’ll be more than happy to help with questions you might have. If you need help or just need someone to nerd out with, feel free to come talk to me.
