Alcohol & Drug Use

Alcohol and other drug use are significant concerns for the health, safety and productivity of students and employees. College students have even higher rates of alcohol and other drug use than the general population. College students use these substances for a variety of reasons, including to relieve stress, to cope with tough coursework, to experiment and because of peer pressure. Alcohol and other drug use increases the risk of injury, unprotected sex, assault, sexual abuse and addiction. The Kent State of Wellness will include programs and initiatives that focus on education, prevention, intervention and support programming for students, faculty and staff who have an alcohol or drug use disorder or who are in recovery.
