Mental Health

For both students and employees, mental health can make the difference between thriving, struggling, or merely surviving. The workplace can provide support and advocacy for employees with mental health concerns, leading to increased productivity and a reduction in risk factors for other chronic disease.

The increasing demand for mental health services among college students has been documented in several studies and observed by Kent State's counseling clinics. Many students report suffering mental health symptoms that impede their success in college. Awareness, prevention and early intervention may change a student's trajectory and increase the likelihood for retention, graduation and success. The Kent State of Wellness will include a comprehensive approach to increase awareness of mental health issues, provide outreach programs, and support access to individual services when needed.
