University Appointed Advisor Training

Gender Equity and Title IX is recruiting a new pool of University Appointed Advisors.  Registration is now open!

Existing University Appointed Advisors are encouraged to sign-up since there is new content.  This is also a great refresher for continuing professional development.

Participation in any of the training dates below will also include an opportunity to participate in a future Mock Hearing for more practice.

Training will cover:

  • Overview of Policy 5-16.2; The investigation process and appeals
  • Role of Investigators and Decision-Makers
  • Role of University Appointed Advisor; What to expect; Preparation and Limitations
  • Pre-Hearing Conference
  • FAQ’s for Advisors

Qualifications: No prior experience necessary.  Anyone can serve in this capacity.  However, prior experience in student conduct hearings, faculty/staff grievance processes, informal resolutions, exposure to investigation reports, serving as a union steward/rep, or serving as a hearing officer are helpful, but not required.

Registration is open for each session and you may register up until the day before the event. This year, the University Appointed Advisor Training counts as 1 hour towards the annually required 2 hours of Beyond Compliance courses for staff.
