Chemistry Placement (ALEKS) | Kent State University

Chemistry Placement (ALEKS)

If you plan to enroll in General Chemistry I (CHEM 10060), you are required to complete the ALEKS Chemistry Placement Assessment. If you do not obtain complete mastery of all 90 ALEKS topics (either through the passing of the initial placement assessment or through subsequent remediation using the ALEKS modules) you will be de-registered from General Chemistry I (CHEM 10060) and General Chemistry Laboratory I (CHEM 10062 General Chemistry I is a pre/co-requisite for General Chemistry Laboratory I). The assessment opens seven weeks prior to the start of the next term. Students have up to six weeks to master all 90 ALEKS topics before the due date. For more information about Kent State chemistry courses and placement, visit the Department of Chemistry website.

MY DESTINATION KENT STATE APPOINTMENT DATE IS BEFORE JULY 1. CAN I STILL ATTEND EVEN THOUGH I WILL NOT HAVE COMPLETED MY CHEMISTRY PLACEMENT ASSESSMENT?

Yes! If your Destination Kent State appointment is before the ALEKS Chemistry Assessment opens, you do not need to complete your Chemistry assessment before you attend. Your advisor will talk to you about the Chemistry Assessment.
