2018-2019 Season continues with "Children of Eden"

Kent, OH – The School of Theatre and Dance at Kent State University continues its 2018-2019 season with the musical "Children of Eden," running Fri., Nov. 2 through Sun., Nov. 11 in E. Turner Stump Theatre, located in the Roe Green Center for the School of Theatre and Dance, Center for the Performing Arts, 1325 Theatre Drive, Kent, OH 44242. Performances are Oct. 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 6 and 7 at 2:00 p.m. 

For tickets call 330-672-ARTS (2787), purchase online at www.kent.edu/theatredance or in person at the Performing Arts Box Office located in the Roe Green Center lobby of the Center for the Performing Arts at 1325 Theatre Drive. The box office is open Mon. – Fri., Noon to 5 pm.  Tickets are $18 for adults, $14 for Kent State University alumni, faculty and staff, $14 for seniors (60+) and non-Kent State students age 18 and under are $10.  Tickets for full-time, Kent campus undergraduates are free of charge.  Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $12 per person.  Flex pass subscriptions are also available. The box office accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, checks, and cash.

From the composer of WickedChildren of Eden is a universal tale of our shared humanity. Through narratives from the Book of Genesis, this timeless musical reminds us that "you cannot close your heart to what it fears and needs to know, that the hardest part of love is the letting go." With a book by John Caird and music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, "Children of Eden" is directed by professor and musical theatre program coordinator Terri Kent.

The production and design team includes choreography by assistant professor MaryAnn Black, music direction by assistant professor Jennifer Korecki, costume design by Elaine Yuen, lighting design by Cory Sprinkles, original scenic design by Ben Needham, scenic design coordination by assistant professor Tamara L. Honesty, sound design by Ben Takitch, and technical direction by associate professor Steve Pauna, Alex Barnhart, and Steve Sawicki. Tiffanie Chau-Dang is the props master, Paige Dornheggen is the assistant director, Kelly Harper is the dramaturg, and Patrick L. Johnson is the production stage manager. 

"Children of Eden" is based on a concept by Charles Lisanby and has orchestrations by Bruce Coughlin and Martin Erskine.
