BFA Musical Theatre Program Ranked #18 in U.S.
The School of Theatre and Dance’s BFA Musical Theatre program has been selected by On Stage Blog as one of the top 25 programs for the 2018-2019 academic year. In our ranking at #18, On Stage highlights Kent State's multi-faceted program which focuses on developing students' skills in music, theatre, and dance.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre program prepares students for life as working artists in the musical theatre field with fully developed skills in music, dance and acting. Practical training and creative experiences are coupled with an interdisciplinary liberal arts curriculum and a foundation in theatre history and theory. In their senior year, students in the Musical Theatre program may audition to participate in the Musical Theatre Showcase in New York City. The Showcase experience enables students to perform for prospective casting directors, managers and agents. An audition is required for admission into the Musical Theatre program.
Alumni of the BFA Musical Theatre program currently work nationally and internationally on Broadway and national tours, in film and television, and at educational institutions.
