Film by Alumna Kaitlyn Black Featured in 2019 Cleveland International Film Festival

"Relationship Deli," a short film written by and starring Kaitlyn Black, an alumna of Kent State University's School of Theatre and Dance, will be featured in the 2019 Cleveland International Film Festival.

The four-minute film depicts a desperate woman (Kelly Vrooman) and a deli worker (Kaitlyn Black) attempting to build the perfect relationship, sandwich-style. "Relationship Deli" is directed by Ian Van Der Werff and produced by Kate Alden. Kent State Assistant Professor of Dance MaryAnn Black serves as an executive producer on the film.

"Relationship Deli" will be screened Tuesday, April 2, at 4:50 p.m.; Wednesday, April 3, at 2:15 p.m.; Thursday, April 4, at 9:20 p.m.; and Saturday, April 6, at 9:30 p.m. at Tower City Cinemas and on Thursday, April 4, at 8:15 p.m. at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. The film is competing in the Shorts, Comedy Shorts and Local Heroes Shorts programs.

Kaitlyn Black graduated magna cum laude from Kent State University in 2005 with a B.A. in Theatre Studies. Ms. Black appeared on the CW series Hart of Dixie, playing fan-favorite character Annabeth Nass from 2011-2015. 

Recently, Ms. Black has appeared in NCISNCIS: New OrleansKiller Single DadBorn and MissingRekindled and Ben Is Dead. Additionally, she has guest-starred on Cold Case, Floaters, Enlightened and Raising Hope.

An alumna of Porthouse Theatre, Ms. Black appeared in productions of Anything Goes and Chicago.
