Former Rockette and Broadway Performer Nikki Long Visits

Presents master classes and workshops to students

Broadway performer and former Radio City Rockette Nikki Long will visit the School of Theatre and Dance on April 28 and 29 to present a series of master classes and workshops. In addition to her time as a Rockette, Ms. Long was an original cast member and dance captain for the Broadway production of Disney's Aladdin, a cast member of the Broadway production and the national tour of The Lion King, and the national tour of Spamalot.

Rockette Master Class

Saturday, April 29, 2017
12:30 - 3:30 p.m.

This class will explore precision dance as it applies to the world of the Rockettes. Students will have the opportunity to hone their skills in jazz, ballet and tap techniques while learning Rockette style choreography. Learn how to dance and think like a Rockette in order to pick up the smallest details that will set you apart from the rest. Character shoes and tap shoes would be helpful but are not mandatory.

Join us for a Musical Theater class centered around the new Broadway hit Disney’s Aladdin. Students will have the opportunity to work on adapting to different styles, picking up material quickly, and perfecting audition techniques. The class will involve jazz, musical theatre and tap. If you plan to attend the mock audition portion on Saturday, please arrive warmed up and please bring a headshot and resume. The class is appropriate for both men and women.

About Nikki Long:

Nikki is a California native but has lived and danced all over the country and in other parts of the world.  She is a mother of two, a professional dancer, a professional photographer, a Pilates instructor and currently assists in the casting of Aladdin on Broadway & it’s touring companies.  She is an original cast member and dance captain for Aladdin on Broadway.  She was formerly a cast member of Disney’s The Lion King Broadway and 1st National Tour, Monty Python’s Spamalot 1st National Tour (original cast), and a Radio City Rockette in NYC. Her regional theater credits include Elf, Cinderella, Catch Me If You Can, On The Town, White Christmas, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Mame.  She is a former dancer for Gloria Estefan, Toni Braxton, and Monica.  Other highlights include performances on The Tony Awards, Good Morning America, The View, The American Music Awards, The Image Awards, The Today Show, Regis & Kelly, 106 & Park, Nightline and various music videos and commercials. She has a B.A. from Santa Clara University double majoring in Spanish and Dance, and has a minor in International Business.
