Gregory King Calls On Us to Reject Silence and Inaction Amidst Racial Injustice
"You must say something, and after that you must do something..."
In an incredibly moving and important essay for ThINKingDANCE, assistant professor of dance Gregory King calls on us all to reject silence and inaction in the face of racial injustice.
The piece, titled "The Deafening Silence of Dance Organizations," is a call to action for arts organizations and everyone to speak out against racism and to follow-up those words with action. King encourages arts organizations to look critically at how they can actively combat racism internally and in the community by diversifying boards of directors, artistic teams, repertoires, faculty, and more.
