The Kent Dance Ensemble, under the artistic direction of Gregory King, will once again perform at Playhouse Square's Dance Showcase on Friday, September 7 at 7:00 p.m. This annual performance, now in its 18th year, showcases Northeast Ohio's finest dance companies in a vast array of dance styles. Last year, the Kent Dance Ensemble shared the stage with some of Ohio's top dance companies including Verb Ballet, Inlet Dance Theatre, and Neo Dance Theatre.
Excited from their performance at the Kennedy Center this summer, the dancers of the Kent Dance Ensemble will share their hard work with the Cleveland and Catherine Meredith's Aftermath. In addition to their performance of the piece at the American College Dance Association's National College Dance Festival at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in June, the Kent Dance Ensemble performed the piece during their annual dance concert in April at Kent State University.
"I would like to say the dancers of the Ensemble continue to rise to the occasion, performing on national stages and proving their training is solid and diverse," said KDE artistic director Gregory King. "Their artistry should be witnessed by all."
The Dance Showcase, presented by Terry and Sheldon Adelman, features Northeast Ohio's finest dance companies and an array of styles including tap, ballet, contemporary, modern and African dance.
Admission to Playhouse Square's Dance Showcase is free, but tickets are required. To reserve a ticket, please visit Playhouse Square's website: http://www.playhousesquare.org/events/detail/dance-showcase
Congratulations to Professor King and the dancers of the Ensemble on this well-deserved accomplishment.
