Kent Dance Ensemble Presents Annual Concert "woMENtum"

Kent, OH – Kent State University’s School of Theatre and Dance continues its 2018-2019 production season with Kent Dance Ensemble: woMENtum. The concert will be presented in E. Turner Stump Theatre, located in the Center for the Performing Arts, 1325 Theatre Drive, Kent, OH 44242. The concert series runs Fri., April 5 and Sat., April 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Sun., April 7 at 2:00 p.m.


Under the direction of artistic director Gregory King, the Kent Dance Ensemble is Kent State University's pre-professional dance company. Their 2019 concert, "woMENtum," features five pieces performed by the Ensemble and a special guest performance by Cleveland hip-hop company ELEVATED. In addition to choreography by King, the concert features work by guest artists Christopher Huggins and Shanness Kemp.


For tickets call 330-672-ARTS (2787), purchase online at or in person at the Performing Arts Box Office located in the Roe Green Center lobby of the Center for the Performing Arts at 1325 Theatre Drive. The box office is open Mon. – Fri., Noon to 5 pm. Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for Kent State University alumni, $14 for faculty and staff, $14 for seniors (60+) and non-Kent State students age 18 and under are $10. Tickets for full-time, Kent campus undergraduates are free of charge. Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $12 per person.  Flex pass subscriptions are also available. The box office accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, checks, and cash. 


The Kent Dance Ensemble is comprised of members Sydney Banks, Nicole Crowl, Megan Finch, Sophie Gasser, Julia Hauf, Bridget Langguth, Carlyn Michelbacher, Taylor Parker, SadieAnn Strouse, Claire Tilley, and Briggs Van Sickle.


The "woMENtum" production team includes costume design by assistant professor Grace Cochran Keenan, Rue Monroe, Maru Perez, Jen Szalay, and Yee Lin Elaine Yuen; lighting design by Alary Sutherland and Sierra Walker; scenic design by assistant professor Tamara L. Honesty; sound design by Ben Takitch; and technical direction by assistant professor Steve Pauna. Tetta Askeland is the props master. SadieAnn Strouse and Briggs Van Sickle serve as assistant artistic directors and Allison Maher is the production stage manager.
