Three Former Flashes Selected for Presidents Cup

Presidents Cup international team captain Mike Weir announced his captain's picks for the 2024 tournament on Tuesday, with three former Flashes golfers selected. The Canadian trio of former Kent State golfers Corey Conners, Taylor Pendrith, and Mackenzie Hughes will compete against the U.S. team at Royal Montreal Golf Club beginning on September 24.

The Presidents Cup is a prestigious international golf competition held every two years in which a team from the United States matches up against an international team representing the rest of the world excluding Europe. Six players automatically qualify for each team through a point system, while six more are selected by a team captain.

Conners returns to the international team after playing in the 2022 Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow in Charlotte. Conners' 2024 season on the PGA Tour has been highlighted by three top-ten finishes and 12 top-25 finishes in 22 events played.

Today's selection also marks a return to the Presidents Cup for Pendrith, who competed alongside Conners in Charlotte two years ago. 2024 has been Pendrith's best season on tour to date, recording the first PGA Tour win of his career at the Byron Nelson in May and tallying six top-ten finishes in 24 events played. This past weekend, Pendrith finished tied for 14th at the FedEx Tour Championship.

Unlike his former Flashes teammates, this marks the first time Hughes has been selected for the Presidents Cup. He earns his selection after clinching three top-ten finishes and seven top-25 finishes across 22 events this year on the PGA Tour.

The international teammates are set to compete on the same team for the first time since 2012 when all three played for Kent State. The selection of the trio of former Flashes also marks the first time that three Canadians have been selected to play in the Presidents Cup.
