ASAP 2018 Drug Summit
Friday, April 27, 2018 from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
The ASAP Coalition invites counselors, social workers, chemical dependency professionals, nurses, recovery support providers, community advocates and anyone interested in learning about how they can impact the drug epidemic, to attend the 2018 ASAP Drug Summit.
The morning will consist of presentations by Lauren Thorp LPC, OCPC, and April Caraway LSW, of the ASAP Coalition and Trumbull County Mental Health & Recovery Board. Dr. Lauren Jones, Assistant Professor, Department of Human Sciences- The Ohio State University will discuss information derived from the research paper "Taking Measure of Ohio's Opioid Crisis" and Karen Vadino, a humorist and motivational speaker, will present "Loss and Grief: Complicated by Addiction." After lunch, attendees will hear about prevention science and strategy from Jim Ryan, OCPC, ICPS of Ryan Training and Consultation, through his presentation, "Prevention in the 21st Century."
In the afternoon, participants will have the choice of attending two of the following six breakout sessions:
Conservative Care First; A Natural Solution to the Opioid Epidemic by Dr. Ensiminger; Chiropractic Physician, Eastern Ohio Chiropractic Society President
Practical Approaches to Solving Ethical Dilemmas by Rochelle Dunn Ph.d., LPCC-S; The Ohio State University (This is a 2 part class. Individuals must attend both sessions for 3 hour Ethics credits)
Marijuana: Sorting the Myths and Facts by Jim Ryan OCPC, IPCS; Ryan Training and Consultation
Hope, Self-Care and Resiliency by Matt Butler MSSA, LISW-S, LICDC; Community Counseling Center
Substance Use Disorders and Older Adults- Entering the Grey Zone by Cynthia McQuown PCC-S, LICDC; Cornerstone Psychological and Counseling Services, Inc.
Project DAWN by Kathy Parrilla, RN, PHN; The Trumbull County Combined Health District (Participants will recieve a Naloxone kit)

Objective: Participants in the day long professional development workshop will learn about current initiatives in Trumbull County combatting the issues surrounding addiction, develop knowledge of effective treatment, prevention & recovery interventions to help those battling addiction, and gain information and resources to continue advancing prevention, treatment and recovery in their communities.
$55.00 Registration fee includes: Continental Breakfast and Boxed Lunch
* 6.75 hours of CEUs and RCHs for Counselors, Social Workers, Chemical Dependency Professionals and Nurses.
Registration after April 16th will be accepted with a late registration fee. No registrations will be accepted after April 20th. No refunds will be issued after April 16th. A $2.50 service fee will be deducted from all refunds.
The 2018 ASAP Drug Summit is presented by the ASAP Coalition, and sponsored by Kent State University, Trumbull Campus, the Trumbull County Mental Health & Recovery Board and Mercy Health Foundation.
Note: Food and beverages are not allowed in the main auditorium. Please plan to arrive with enough time to enjoy the continental breakfast before the workshop begins.
