Office Technology

In the College of Technology's Information Technology for Administrative Professionals (ITAP) program, you will learn the latest in business developments that shape administrative functions.

You will use the most popular business software applications, ranging from word processing and spreadsheets to desktop publishing and visual presentations. In addition, you will learn the fundamentals of accounting, automated records management and filing, business communications and resource management. In a capstone seminar course, you will learn about the array of office occupations and how to launch an effective job search.

Depending on your occupational goals, you can focus on desktop publishing, legal office or medical office studies. With your Associate of Applied Business degree in ITAP from Kent State University at Trumbull, you will have a competitive edge for finding success in today's business environment.

The associate degree is granted after the successful completion of 61 credit hours. By concentrating the majority of your studies in technology and related coursework, you are prepared in a short time to enter the work world. Many of the credits earned in the associate's degree in ITAP can be applied toward the College of Technology's 2+2 program for a Bachelor of Science degree in technology or toward additional specialty certificates. Most of the courses in the ITAP degree also apply to the Bachelor of Science degree in integrated business education, which prepares students to teach at the secondary or postsecondary level or manage corporate training programs and is housed in the College of Education, Health and Human Services. Students interested in either bachelor's degree should consult with a faculty advisor.
