Athens High School Wrestler Signs with Wrestling Team

Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of an Athens High School graduating senior to their wrestling team. On May 12, Holden Macy signed a Letter of Intent to wrestle for the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles Wrestling Team.

Macy was a four-year letter winner for the Bulldogs wrestling team. He was also an Ohio High School Athletic Association State Wrestling Tournament qualifier this year, while compiling a 45-5 record and pinning 35 of his opponents during his final season on the mat for Athens High School. Macy is a three-time Tri Valley League (TVL) Champion and one-time runner up in the TVL, who won two sectional tournament titles, made four trips to the district tournament and won Most Valuable Wrestler in four tournaments his senior year. He was recently awarded the Frank Simpkins Memorial Scholarship Award after finishing ranked 13th in the State of Ohio in his weight class. He also played on Athens High School state finalist football team and was ranked as the 21st best high school pole vaulter in Ohio during his junior year. He plans to major in mechanical and electrical engineering.

“It’s a pleasure to have signed such a great athlete like Holden to our team,” said Dave Schlarb, Head Wrestling Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. “He had a wonderful career at Athens High School and there’s no doubt he will continue to have success at the collegiate level because he is such a hardworking young man and is all business in the wrestling room and on the mat. We have high expectations for him, but nobody has higher expectations for Holden than himself. He’s got a great support system at home and I am sure that he’s going to continue to make those folks and the people at Athens High School proud.”

Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
