Kent State Tuscarawas Agribusiness Students Visit Beef Cattle Industry World Headquarters

Kent State Tuscarawas Agribusiness students recently visited the world headquarters of Certified Angus Beef, located in Wooster, Ohio. The junior and senior students met with the directors of the organization to learn more about the beef cattle industry, which plays a crucial role in America’s, and especially in Ohio’s, economy.

Students were given a tour of the brand’s headquarters, where the standard for quality of Angus beef is established. They also toured the state-of-the-art culinary center and learned about educational opportunities in the food animal industry.

Through this experience, students gained insight on how the company is structured and how they can apply what they have learned at Kent State Tuscarawas in the Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness program to the development of relationships in the fields of agricultural sales, marketing, communication and advertising on a regional and even global scale. The students are enrolled in AGRI 34000 Livestock Production & Management, instructed by Duane Stutzman, Kent State Tuscarawas adjunct professor.

Agribusiness is a complex economic system that affects every member of the global community – from producer to consumer. Students in the Agribusiness program at Kent State Tuscarawas will be prepared for jobs, including management in agribusiness firms, agricultural commodity merchandising, finance and lending, real estate management and investment, international trade, entrepreneurship, agricultural production, relationship and sales management, and food marketing and advertising.

Kent State is located at 330 University Drive NE in New Philadelphia.
