Kent State Tuscarawas Engineering Technology Department Regional Bridge Building Competition Winners Announced

The Kent State University at Tuscarawas Engineering Technology Department held the Regional Bridge Building Competition for area high school students on Feb. 21, 2019. Students participated from the following schools: Buckeye Career Center, Dover High School, Garaway High School, Indian Valley High School, New Philadelphia High School, Strasburg High School and Tuscarawas Valley High School.

 

Over 200 bridges were submitted with 168 students participating. The first place award went to Nathan Walker from New Philadelphia High School. This is his second consecutive win in the Bridge Building competition. Second place was awarded to Carter Zeedyk from Dover High School. Both Walker and Zeedyk will go on to the National Bridge Building Competition held in Baltimore.

 

Placing third through tenth in the competition are as follows: Matthew Pfeiffer (New Philadelphia), Kobe Gaskin (New Philadelphia), Gavin Perkowski (Tuscarawas Valley), Joshua Ice (Dover), Nolan Little (Dover), Ian Stein (New Philadelphia), Hunter Beach (New Philadelphia), and Tyler Sutton (Conotton Valley).
