Men's and Women's Basketball Teams Win First Round of ORCC Tournament

Congratulations to the Kent State Tuscarawas Men's and Women's Basketball Teams for winning first round games in the Ohio Regional Campus Conference (ORCC) State Tournament last weekend. On Feb. 15, the women’s team defeated Ohio University Eastern 60-46, while the men defeated Wright State Lake 85-84. The games were held at the University of Miami Middletown and University of Miami Hamilton respectively. 

Both Kent State Tuscarawas basketball teams now move on to play in the semi-finals at Ohio University Lancaster on Feb. 21, with the women’s team playing OU Lancaster at 1 p.m. and the men’s team playing Ohio State University Newark at 5 p.m. 

Coached by Craig Moore, the men’s basketball team is the top seed in the ORCC conference. They have a 12-1 season record. Amanda Marino coaches the women’s team, who are a number five seed and have a 9-5 season record. 

The ORCC championships will be held Feb. 22 at the OU Lancaster gymnasium, with the women’s game at 1 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 3:30 p.m.
