Morelli to Leave Performing Arts Center

Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the resignation of Dr. Mike Morelli, general manager of the Kent State Tuscarawas Performing Arts Center, who has accepted a new position as the executive director of the Entertainment Management Program at the University of Montana.

“We gratefully appreciate Dr. Morelli’s service to the Kent State Tuscarawas campus community,” said Dr. Brad Bielski, dean and chief administrative officer of Kent State Tuscarawas. “For five and a half years, Dr. Morelli has brought world-class entertainment to the residents of our community. He has been engaged locally in many arts and community initiatives. Not only will Kent State Tuscarawas miss Dr. Morelli’s expertise, but the community will miss his passion for engagement. We wish him the best in this new endeavor.”

Morelli will leave his position at Kent State Tuscarawas in mid-June.

According to Morelli, “I want to say ‘thank you’ to the campus and community for the tremendous patronage of the Performing Arts Center and its programming. With full community support, and outstanding vision from two different Deans, we’ve taken this facility and department from a corn field to a state-of-the-art venue, a preferred stop on the national touring scene by acts like the Oakridge Boys and Mamma Mia. At this point, the Performing Arts Center at Kent State Tuscarawas has become an established venue and earned a national reputation as a ‘good stop’ for artists of all kinds. I deeply appreciate the opportunity to serve this community. My family has benefited greatly from our time here, and wishes nothing but the best for Tuscarawas Valley.”

A national search will be conducted to replace Morelli.
