Women's Success Series Announces 2017-18 Speakers

Three diverse, professional women who excel in their careers are being spotlighted by the 2017-18 Women’s Success Series. Award-winning former news director at WJER Radio, Jenifer Clark, kicks off the series on Nov. 3, followed by Jennifer Kiko, successful field representative for Rep. Bob Gibbs, on Feb. 2, 2018, and renowned artist, Jennifer Contini, on April 6, 2018. Each session is held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Kent State University at Tuscarawas. Cost to attend each session is $15 when paid in advance and $20 at the door. The fee includes a continental breakfast.

The Women’s Success Series is designed to inspire women of all ages to succeed personally and professionally. Each year, the leadership series features three dynamic women who have enjoyed a measure of success in Tuscarawas County. The sessions also include networking opportunities and a book discussion. The November 2017 book selection is The ONE Thing by Gary Keller and is available at any Tuscarawas County Public Library.

“This is the seventh year of programming for the Women’s Success Series,” commented Wendy Zucal, director of Dennison Railroad Depot Museum and one of the Women’s Success Series organizers. “Each year we select three outstanding women who will make a positive impact on our audience by sharing their own success stories. In doing so, they inspire our audience to move forward in their own lives and careers. Our audience is comprised of women of all ages and from all walks of life, which creates an interesting mix and leads to dynamic and thoughtful discussions. The women encourage each other. And everyone learns something new during the program.”

This year’s first speaker, Jennifer Clark, is well-known as the former news director at WJER Radio. She has been recognized with dozens of awards from the Ohio Associated Press, as well as many individual awards for breaking news stories, series and features, and Best Reporter. Jennifer also spent more than 20 years freelancing for medical publications, served as editor for several local newsletters, covering Community Hospice and the Anti-Drug Coalition and anchored and produced the DMG-TV2 Medical Minutes program on local cable access television. Jennifer’s experiences allowed her to meet extraordinary people, from local heroes to world leaders, and to witness history and share it with the community. After over 35 years in journalism, Jennifer recently joined the staff of Geib Funeral Home & Crematory.

The Women’s Success Series is sponsored by Dennison Railroad Depot Museum and Kent State Tuscarawas in collaboration with Carlene Farms, Tuscarawas County Public Library System and the Economic Development and Finance Alliance of Tuscarawas County.
