The Body Project
The Body Project is a dissonance-based body-acceptance program designed to help women resist cultural pressures to conform to the appearance ideal standard of female beauty and reduce their pursuit of unrealistic bodies. Our mission for the Body Project at Kent State is to empower women to challenge the appearance ideal and embrace the unique beauty of themselves and others.
The Body Project is a research based, peer led program that can be implemented in two different formats:
- two, 2 hour sessions over the course of 2 weeks
- four, 1 hour sessions over the course of 4 weeks
If you would like to participate in this program, become a peer educator for this program, or have any questions, please email BodyProjectKSU@gmail.com or call University Psychological Services at 330-672-2487.
The Body Project is a collaborative effort between the Office of Health Promotion and University Psychological Services.
