Lashonda M. TaylorLashonda M. Taylor

Executive Director

Lashonda joined Kent State University in July 2009 and presently serves as the executive director of University Events & Protocol. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing the university’s largest academic events including, Commencement and Convocation. Lashonda also works in conjunction with the President and Provost on a variety of university initiatives. She is an active member of many university committees and serves as a liaison to various university offices and divisions for planning and execution of events, seminars, retreats and trainings.

Lashonda earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus on communication studies from Kent State University in 2013. Lashonda currently holds the designation as a certified Collegiate, Conference and Events Professional (CCEP) and as a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP). She is presently pursuing a Master's degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management and is a graduate of the 2016-2017 Administrator class of the Institute for Excellence offered at Kent State University. 

 

Lisa R. GalanisLisa R. O'Connell

Event Director

Lisa serves as event director. She is the event lead for the planning of academic and other major University special events and social functions. Lisa serves as the communications officer for the Office of University Events & Protocol and is a member of various division and university committees. Additionally, she is an active member of the North American Association of Commencement Officers and serves on the association’s communications committee. Lisa joined Kent State University in July of 2012.

Lisa earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Toledo in 2006. Most recently, she graduated from the Spring 2013 Community Leadership Institute, hosted by Leadership Akron and the 2014 Individual Contributor class of the Institute for Excellence.  She is presently pursuing a Master's degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management.

 

Keli D. GreeneKeli D. Greene

Event Manager

Keli Greene serves as event manager. She joined Kent State University in 2007 as administrative assistant for the vice provost of Diversity and Academic Initiatives. Since her start at Kent State, she has served in various administrative capacities. She most recently served as assistant to the Provost. In this new role, Keli is responsible for the coordination and planning support of University special events and social functions.

Keli serves on various University committees and supports university offices and divisions with event planning. Keli is an active member of the Kent Area Chapter of the Links, Inc. where she plans and coordinates numerous events. Keli earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University in 1993.

 

Lisa ThomasLisa S. Thomas

Event Manager

Lisa Thomas currently serves as event manager.  She joined Kent State University as a member of the Office of the Provost in 2009. She has since served in administrative capacities within various divisions, most recently as an assistant to an executive officer.  In her new role, Lisa is responsible for assisting with special events at both the college and university levels, as well as assisting in development and implementation of projects associated with the Office of University Events & Protocol.  Lisa serves on various University committees.

Lisa earned an Associate of Arts degree with Distinction from Kent State University in 2016 and is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Communications. 

 

Sara Harvey

Event Coordinator

Sarah Harvey joined Kent State University in 2014, and currently serves as Event Coordinator in the Office of University Events and Protocol. Sarah is a 2012 graduate of the Hugh A. Glauser School of Music, where she earned a master’s and certificate in vocal performance under the tutelage of Dr. Jane Dressler. As a master’s student and eventual staff member, Sarah had the opportunity to develop her administrative skills in the offices of Kent/Blossom Music Festival (KSU’s summer partnership with The Cleveland Orchestra), managing the student, faculty and guest artist experience.
