Rebecca Murphy currently serves as Kent State University’s Associate Vice President of University Communications and Marketing. As came as a key member of the leadership team of Kent State’s Division of University Relations. She helps to define, articulate and market the Kent State brand, position the eight-campus system for success in a challenging and rapidly-changing competitive marketplace, lead the development of integrated brand-building strategies to advance the reputation and image of Kent State as a leader in higher education, and support its mission to educate students for responsible leadership in a globally-connected world.
Murphy came to Kent State from Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management, where she most recently served as assistant dean of marketing and communications, enrollment and student services. Murphy has more than 20 years of experience in strategic planning, brand management, creative development and media relations.
As assistant dean of marketing and communications, enrollment and student services at Case Western Reserve’s Weatherhead School of Management, Murphy was responsible for planning and executing the school’s marketing, communications and brand management initiatives. In addition, she was responsible for leading the School’s admissions, enrollment, student services and registrar areas. She also previously served as senior director of marketing, communications and external relations at Case Western Reserve, associate director of marketing for the Cleveland Museum of Art and director of marketing and communications at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure in Aurora, Ohio.
Murphy is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the American Marketing Association. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from the University of Akron.
