Kelemen Earns Awards and Honors for Letterpress Works

Posters by Bob Kelemen, adjunct instructor and alumnus of the School of Visual Communication Design, were recently accepted into three separate exhibitions. Kelemen’s poster  "Dead Wood Revival,” which he crafted to promote a visit from Scott Moore of Moore Wood Type, received an Award of Excellence in the University and College Designers Association’s 2013 UCDA Design Show. The judges evaluated nearly 1,000 entries and awarded 160 awards (6 gold awards, 8 silver and 146 Awards of Excellence). The poster will be on display during UCDA’s 43rd Annual Design Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, Oct. 12-15.Four of Kelemen’s prints, made for his M.F.A. thesis, were accepted to the Cleveland Institute of Art’s Faculty Show, which runs from Aug. 29-Oct. 12, at the Reinberger Galleries in the George Gund Building. Three of Kelemen’s posters were accepted to RAGS MAKE PAPER – An Inaugural Juried Exhibition from Aug. 9-Sept. 14, presented by the Morgan Art of Papermaking Conservatory and Educational Foundation. The exhibition was open to artists within 75 miles of Cleveland. About 200 pieces were submitted by 98 artists, which were juried by Bruce Checefsky & Robert Thurmer. One hundred works from 75 artists were selected for inclusion in the exhibition. Kelemen's work received an Award of Merit at the show. RAGS MAKE PAPER runs from Aug. 9-Sept. 14, with gallery hours from Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The show is open to the public at our Main Entrance on East 47th Street (one-way running north from Commerce).
