Need a Job? VCD Seeks Resource Center Creative Facilities Manager

The School of Visual Communication Design at Kent State University invites applications for the position of Resource Center Creative Facilities Manager (RCM). This is a 12-month position beginning Fall 2015. The selected candidate will need to coordinate and oversee the daily operation of a VCD student resource center, photo lab and other related facilities, as well as assist in implementing creative resources and office infrastructure.

Duties or essential functions may include, but not be limited to the following: 

  • Issue materials, checkout equipment, maintain accounts

  • Maintain and repair equipment

  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment

  • Provide instruction to students on proper laboratory procedures and methods

  • Maintain records and files

  • May supervise and train students and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis throughout the year

  • Perform related duties as assigned

Qualifications: Candidates must possess a baccalaureate degree in visual communication design and or photography, or related field, with two to three years of managerial experience. Demonstrated ability to: communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with technical and non-technical users; elicit information necessary to resolve problems; establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with students and faculty; manage time and resource; effectively balance multiple priorities. The job requires specialized knowledge in multiple technical competencies, including knowledge of video, audio and imaging manipulation equipment, tungsten and studio lighting equipment.

Preferred: Demonstrate a strong commitment to higher education and the professional practice of Visual Communication Design; work collaboratively as an active member of a collegial faculty body.
