WMST 30000- COLLOQUIUM IN WOMEN'S STUDIES – (Online)

This is Women’s Studies classic course. It is a conversation that begins with the “Man’s World” in which women found themselves, carries on with the “Woman Question” that arose once “the ladies” went rogue, insisting on votes, rights and opportunities and stole the rallying cries of Everyman: Equality! Liberty! Sisterhood! From there, we’re off and rolling.

WMST 30001- FEMINIST THEORY (Online)

Pause to consider what it is that has changed the world—and who: Vision and visionaries.
Thought and thinkers. Learning and those who learned—scholars, researchers, theorists, practitioners and yes, activists who put ideas into motion, movements.
What women think and say has so long been underplayed, we’re accustomed to it. Especially if there’s something troublingly feminist in it. If we’re not careful, we’re seduced right along— focused endlessly on faces, bodies, shapes, sizes, colors, kinds, what’s trending, a hot meme. But what were and are these so-called feminist women thinking? What did and do they know? Almost nobody can tell you. Sadly, not even feminists. This course can.

WMST 30095-001 – Special Topics: WITCHES: THE MONSTROUS FEMININE (in person)

The Witch. The Monstrous Feminine. These are all words with screams built in—darkness, danger, fear ... and history. There’s something very old here that’s somehow hung on. Our course will pursue a dig into the telling past, but we will also study the very time we’re in—and how gender melds with monstrous, how constructions of femininity sit precariously on edges of witch, bitch, whore, she- devil, how female agency triggers alarm and accusation, how the phenomenon of a pandemic alters permissions, disrupts but at once reinforces order.

WMST 30095-002– Special Topics: Internet Feminism: Resituated feminists, a reconstituted movement (In Person)
