World Of Kolored Empowerment

Mission Statement:

World Of Kolored Empowerment (W.O.K.E.) is an activist organization whose goal is to Empower, Enrich, and Enlighten students of color at Kent State University. W.O.K.E will serve as a promoter for the Student Multicultural Center (SMC), as well as The Department of Pan-African Studies (DPAS).

Goal:Our goal is to spread knowledge and promote Unity for Kolored people (Black,Hispanic and Indigenous) within our society, through means of Educational sources such as Group Speaking/Activities, Dissection of Historical Kolored Literature, Film and Politics. Our goal is to provide a secure and break down the cultural and racial ignorance society has placed on people of Kolor by teaching Afrocentrism.

W.O.K.E. Statement:

We are here to make a stand, not only for ourselves but to others who may be afraid to do so. We spread the knowledge within our reach and seek the unknown in which we can teach. We are WOKE since birth like a flower to the earth. Our pedals do not fall, never hitting dirt. Beautiful like our skin and our history, we may come in different shades and have lived through different pains, but we will all leave a legacy.

Meetings

Meetings are weekly, every Saturday at the Kent Student Center 2nd floor Leaders Lounge from 3 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Membership Requirements

Membership is open to anyone whose willingly to expand their mindset and break away from ignorance no matter of race, class nor creed.
