Amanda Leu, M.Ed.
Coordinator, CCI Office of Academic Diversity Outreach
Originally from southwestern Pennsylvania, Amanda Leu first came to Kent State University in 2008 as an undergraduate student. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree, Leu continued her education at Kent State by earning a Master's in Education in Higher Education and Student Personnel in 2014, a Graduate Certificate in College Teaching in 2015, and a Graduate Certificate in Institutional Research and Assessment in 2016. Throughout her years at Kent State, Leu has been involved in many offices including the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the LGBTQ Student Center, the Women’s Center, the Center for Student Involvement, the College of the Arts, and the College of Communication & Information (CCI). Leu has conducted research in a variety of areas related to diversity trainings and initiatives in higher education, with a focus on success and retention strategies for various underrepresented and underserved student populations. Prior to this role, Leu served as an Academic Advisor in CCI for two years. Leu continues to use her demonstrated passion for diversity work and her “students first” mindset to lead the CCI Office of Academic Diversity Outreach in the right direction.

Ty Sugick is currently a senior at Kent State University, majoring in journalism with a focus in broadcast. Ty also yields a minor in sports administration, and he plans to use both his major and minor to promote a sports radio career along with a career in mentoring teens or young adults. During Ty’s tenure at Kent State, he has been a leader in student media, Undergraduate Student Government (USG), and the Student Diversity Action Council (SDAC). Ty has also spent the past three years working for the WDJQ Q92 sports team as a sports broadcaster and producer. Ty plans to help the Office of Academic Diversity Outreach and the CCI Diversity Team and leave Kent State’s campus better than when he arrived.
