Rad Tech Students Learn Mindful Yoga Techniques

The Kent State UNiversity at Salem radiology and radiation therapy programs are teaming up with Ohio State University in a study to address chronic occupational-induced pain for those working in the medical imaging field. Through this study, students and faculty members from this program are using mindful approaches in clinical practice that provide awareness of proper body mechanics when working with patients and medical equipment.

Kent State Salem students will be included in the study for two years and will be exposed to a variety of mindful approaches including mindful yoga, biofeedback and patient transfer aids.

The study is headed by Dr. Kevin Evans, professor and director of the Radiologic Sciences/Respiratory Therapy Division at OSU, and is sponsored by the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation.

Leading the study at Kent State Salem are faculty members Margie Iagulli, Kelly Dragomir and Shellie Warino.
