Kent State University is committed to student success. An important first step is proper course placement.
Students are REQUIRED to complete all online placement assessments BEFORE arriving on campus to attend Destination Kent State (DKS). Online assessments are available for students who will enroll in spring courses in October and in April for students who will enroll in summer or fall 2013 courses. Online placement assessments can be found in FlashLine at flashline.kent.edu.
Placement assessments are designed to help academic advisors and students determine which courses will provide the best opportunity for success. Kent State University currently requires students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in English (Writing), Mathematics, Foreign Language, Reading and Study Strategies. Students can demonstrate their knowledge and skills through scores on ACT, SAT, and/or placement assessments. Please note that placement assessment scores will not be used to determine admission to Kent State University or any academic program.
The chart below outlines the specific placement method required for each subject area. Students without ACT or SAT scores will be asked to complete an alternative assessment during their visit to campus to meet with an academic advisor or attend DKS.
