At Kent State University’s New York City Fashion program, you’ll do more than just study fashion—you’ll live it.

School of Fashion Study Away NY Mark

The New York City Fashion program, located in Manhattan’s Garment District, provides students with real-world experience while living in the fashion capital of the United States. Students learn from industry-based instructors, participate in hand-on internships, volunteer at New York Fashion Week and network with successful alumni and industry professionals. The program not only offers junior-level major courses and electives but also includes senior-level major courses during the fall semester. Guest students such as journalism, public relations or marketing majors are also welcome to participate. A semester in N.Y.C. allows students to jump-start their career in the fashion industry even before they graduate.

Financial Aid & Scholarships

While participating in a semester or summer term at New York City Fashion, you have the benefit of paying Kent State University tuition rates, based on your in-state (Ohio resident),  out-of-state (all others), or international status. As a full-time student, you will also have the same financial aid and extensive scholarship opportunities offered to main campus students while enrolled here.

If you are a guest student, you will need to secure financial aid and scholarships through your home institution, which you will then be able to apply to your New York City Fashion experience. Living costs can be high in New York City so we recommend that you take full advantage of any financial aid or scholarship opportunities that may be available to you.

Housing

Students are responsible for securing housing prior to moving to New York City. The New York program does not provide housing accommodation as part of the program, but we are here to help and guide you. We can recommend several housing providers used previously by our students. The estimated monthly costs vary greatly in New York depending on your chosen location, amenities, size of apartment and length of stay.

Students must confirm their housing 45 days before the start of the semester.
