What are general electives and how do I find a list of options?

General Electives are courses that allow you the opportunity to take whatever you want. These courses are required for you to meet the total hours required in your degree (BBA) program. However, specific courses are not pre-selected like they are for your major or for core business program.  You are given the option of choosing how you will fulfill these requirements.

Below are some ways to complete the general elective requirement:

  • Declaring a second major, minor, or certificate program and using the courses from any one of these as General Electives.
  • Finding available courses that you are interested in taking from any department/unit across campus (you must meet the listed pre-requisites on the course). View a list of suggestions compiled by business advisors and students:
  • Applying for an internship-for-credit course once you have received an internship offer but before you begin the internship experience.

Work with an advisor to apply graduate level coursework to your undergraduate degree requirements (See University catalog for policy on “Undergraduate Students Enrolling in Graduate Courses”).
