Domestic Violence Lunch and Learn Held at Kent State

Kent State University at East Liverpool recently held a lunch and learn program to generate awareness on the East Liverpool campus concerning domestic violence. Associate Lecturer Angela Douglass coordinated the event to provide students, faculty and staff essential information regarding this social problem.

The first speaker of the program was Elaine Kloss, a legal advocate with the prosecutor’s office, representing domestic violence victims. She gave a detailed definition of domestic violence, and also spoke on the signs of an abusive relationship and the legal issues involved in domestic disputes.

Also addressing the group was Counseling Specialist Kathrine Vance-RIghetti. She is a licensed counselor and currently works with students at the East Liverpool and Salem campuses. Righetti discussed why victims sometimes return to violent relationships and provided various examples of domestic violence.

Clerical Specialist Marci Van Fosson, nursing students and faculty provided lunch for attendees.

If you or someone you know is suffering from domestic violence, please contact Righetti at kavance@kent.edu or by calling 330-337-4287.
