James Mendolia
Biography
James Mendolia is an educator with a proven track record exceptional at building innovative fashion curriculum, as well as professional training programs and international courses and exchanges thanks to his professional and academic experience, which included over 16 years of academic leadership at Parsons School of Design.
Born in New York City, travel is his passion, as an experienced fashion professional his career has allowed him to travel the world to work with some of the world’s finest fashion businesses, spinners, weavers, knitters, artisans, printers and apparel factories.
Currently, James investigates new textile and apparel technologies that are in direct response to the global movement to generate a sustainable preference in today’s changing marketplace. He travels extensively to present work related to Responsible Design, Future Fashion Systems, Distance and Hybrid Learning to universities and fashion businesses in Europe, Asia, Peru, Mexico and the United States.
In 2021, he collaborated with Arts Thread London to develop and lead an international design competition to showcase and educate emerging designers to use their intellectual capacity to integrate sustainability into their design process. Using Instagram LIVE, together with Arts Thread, James was able to coordinate a lineup of international expert speakers to support the initiative reaching 900 design schools in 125 countries.
