Aurora Alexander
Biography
Position:
I'm the Program Director of the TRIO Educational Opportunity Centers and I direct all operational and administrative functions of the grant-funded program. I have specific areas of oversight including the daily operations of the program, staff supervision, budget maintenance, federal compliance, and the evaluation of all program areas.
Experience:
My previous role was the Director of Career and Experiential Education at Walsh University. I was responsible for building opportunities for students to engage with career education, professional development, and career management. Prior to that, I worked as a Senior Human Resource Analyst with Amazon and oversaw the Career Choice program for associates interested in obtaining certifications and college-level degrees to advance their careers. I'm excited to have the opportunity to return to Kent State as I've previously worked as a Senior Advisor I and Career Coach in the Department of Psychological Sciences.
Inspiration:
I'm excited to start helping people within my new role because I understand how challenging college can be. I was desperately unprepared when I first entered college, so I made many mistakes on my journey through my undergraduate degree. It took me 14 years to get my four-year degree. Eventually, I prevailed learning from my mistakes while turning negatives into positives on my path through higher education. I want all students to be successful and avoid the pitfalls as they navigate their educational adventure. Ultimately, I want students to get the memos that I missed.
Fun Fact:
I'm a proud mother to my 9-year-old son, Fox. He is my entire world.
