IN A FLASH: Flashes on Ice

"If the cold never bothered you anyway," there are lots of fun activities in Kent this winter.

The Kent Skates ice rink in downtown Kent offers free use of the rink and free skate rental. It's open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m - 11 p.m., through February 26.  It's also available for group events.

The location features food and beverages at a snack bar, the Zamboni Café, and visits from food trucks. Plus, the restaurants and shops of downtown Kent are just steps away.

On January 20, the Flash Activities Board presents the annual WinterBlast at the Kent State Ice Arena from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.  The first 500 attendees will receive a WinterBlast crewneck. The hockey game begins at 6:20 p.m. and the free skate starts at 8:45 p.m. Check out @fab_ksu on Instagram for more information.

Alumni Skate Night at Kent Skates is Jan. 28 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be an a cappella group singing songs of the season rinkside and a hot chocolate bar inside the Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center Ballroom.

Purchase event tickets here, before Jan. 23 (adults $10, children $5). All proceeds support the Kent State Scholarship Fund.
