Kent State University Athletic Training FACILITIES

Kent State Athletic Training Students are exposed to two athletic training rooms while in their on-campus clinical rotations.  One of these facilities is housed in the MACC Annex and is known as the Athletic Training Education Center.  The sports that primarily work out of this facility are men's basketball, women's basketball, wrestling, gymnastics, volleyball, and cross country.

The other athletic training facility is located at the football stadium.  This athletic training facility is known as the John Faulstick athletic training facility.  It was named  after John Faulstick, who dedicated 30 years of his life to Kent State as the head athletic trainer.  The sports that primarily work out of this athletic training facility are football, baseball, softball, women's soccer, field hockey, and track & field.  Within these facilities there are currently 6 full-time staff certified athletic trainers that serve as preceptors for our athletic training students.  Additionally, there are 4 graduate assistants that also act as preceptors to our students at these facilities.

ATP Classroom & Competency Lab

The Athletic Training Program (ATP) has outstanding facilities that provide all the equipment essential to the acquisition of clinical and academic skills. This laboratory also supports current research that is going on within the ATP.  Adjacent to the competency labs is the ATP classroom.  These rooms can be located at 221 and 222 MACC Annex.

Off-Campus Clinical Rotation Sites

Kent State ATP uses affiliate sites to supplement on-campus experiences. Several high schools (CVCA, Woodridge, Kent-Roosevelt, Green, St. Vincent-St. Mary, Stow-Monroe Falls, North Canton-Hoover, Streetsboro, Aurora, Solon, & Twinsburg) provide additional sites for athletic training students within the program.  Aultman Hospital, Mercy Medical Center, Akron General, Summa Health Care System, The PT Center, University Hospitals, Cleveland Clinic, and Akron Children's provide clinical education sites for our students.  At each of these sites there are preceptors with diverse and unique backgrounds that provide supervision to our students.  Each of these clinical education sites has a variety of athletic training equipment and supplies which provides the athletic training students the opportunity to experience several different professional venues prior to graduation.  These facilities also help support the general medical experience for our athletic training students.  You can get additional information about each site by clicking on the links below.
