New Name for Office of Experiential Education and Civic Engagement

I am excited to share with you that the Office of Experiential Education and Civic Engagement will be operating under a new name: Community Engaged Learning. After bench-marking similar offices at peer institutions, we realized that our name was not in line with national trends and was often misleading to you, our constituents. This new name better reflects the work of our office and our mission of "creating experiences that transform students and strengthen communities."

Community Engaged Learning will continue to provide the signature hands-on learning experiences you love, such as Super Service Saturdays and Alternative Spring Breaks. We are also committed to developing new partnerships with our faculty, staff, and community organizations to further support Kent State students on their journey to developing civic identity and committing to a life of purpose and impact.
