Kent State Announces 2018 Research Colloquia

Kent State University’s Division of Research and Sponsored Programs, Division of Information Services and University Libraries announce the 2018 Kent State Research Colloquia, which will be held Friday mornings from Feb. 23 through April 6

 

This workshop series will focus on research technologies, including state-of-the-art high performance and research computing (HPC), as well as grant resources, data management and compliance requirements. The Division of Research and Sponsored Programs, Division of Information Services and University Libraries are participating in this workshop, along with invited stakeholders, to provide the following sessions:

 

  • Feb. 23 – Cisco: High Performance and Research Computing
  • March 2 – Google: Google Cloud Platform Solutions
  • March 9 – Research Compliance, Regulatory and Security Update
  • March 16 – Grant Support and Planning
  • March 23 – Amazon Web Services (AWS): High Performance and Research Computing
  • April 6 – Data Management and Technical Resources

The workshop series provides a forum for researchers and academia to discuss with research technology representatives the technologies required for research computing at Kent State. Participants will have the opportunity to engage HPC vendors, review technology demonstrations, and discuss various experiments and best practices. Some of the example areas include but are not limited to:
 

  • Educational research
  • Genome processing
  • Modeling and simulation
  • Monte Carlo simulations
  • Transcoding and encoding
  • Computational chemistry
